A conservative atheist! WTF!

I have always considered myself to be pretty conservative with the exception of three areas. They would be atheism, pro choice and pro gay rights up to and including marriage. I see these three situations as being not as much civil rights as they are matters of religious freedom.

I have always been a believer in the U.S. Constitution and it's Bill of Rights. Anyone that makes the claim that this is a Christian nation and our laws are based on the Ten Commandments is either ignorant, a liar, stupid or all three. The first four commandments are absolutely religious law for all Jews and Christians. These four must be observed in order to be of either religion. They are pretty damned specific and have no wiggle room. The first four are in direct conflict with the Bill of Rights. The rest are either irrelevant or nothing new to civilization since they have been basic law in every society way before the Bible was ever written by men. Click here to go to a site that does a very good job of demonstrating this fact
OK, so most Americans say they also are in favor of the Bill of Rights. How do I claim to be conservative with such liberal views. Simple. These are about the only areas in which I lean to the left. If someone were to make a list of things that make one a conservative or liberal then being religious, anti abortion and anti gay rights would be on the conservative list and the opposite views on the liberal side.

In future posts I plan to show my conservative side as topics come up that I have strong feelings about or if I just feel like bitching about something that just pisses me off!

Since I also have a very good sense of humor I will be commenting on things I find funny or maybe just a little strange.
